David GendersTony Mahoney

In May 2008 David retired as senior partner, having spent 42 years with the firm. He began his career in 1965 as an Articled Clerk and his first-time Institute exam passes led to qualification as a Chartered Accountant in early 1970.

He then opted for a move into taxation and joined the firm's tax department as an assistant. After progressing to assistant manager and then manager, he was made a junior partner in 1977. When Stuart Kemp retired in 2000 David became the firm's senior partner and in October 2005 celebrated four decades with Sayers Butterworth.

David is now the firm's consultant, specialising in advising personal clients on all aspects of capital and income tax planning. He continues to author the Daily Telegraph Tax Guide and holds a number of personal Trusteeships.

In his spare time David is a keen gardener, golfer and walker.
